#SoundOff: Dear Buhari, Please Stop Telling Us What We Already Know, Get To Work

Must read

by Isaac Igwe

Since May 29, it has been so nauseating to wake up, and all one hears in the news is the “Blame Game”: How much the government of the People’s Democratic Party under former President Goodluck Jonathan “stole”, how empty the treasury is, and how determined President Buhari is in recovering the “looted funds”.

To me, Mr. President, this is a lazy man and propagandist approach to issues in place of purposive action. Even after you have become the ruling government you still behaves like when you were the opposition.

The point is this. For God’s sake, since you claimed to have identified several looted funds both the ones in the local banks and that of the foreign, why not go ahead arrest the criminals, prosecute and recover these funds so you can use the money to fulfill the promises you made to Nigerians?

This approach to corruption which you have adopted is making it look like an end itself rather than a means. The end is for you to get enough money to carry out the needed reforms you promised and to stop further corruption in the system.

The nature of publicity that is being given to this corruption fight is assuming the same approach which the previous government adopted towards the failed Boko Haram fight.|

Please stop telling us what we already know. All we want from you is to do that which we cannot do.

Stop telling us that our money is missing and who stole them, we already know that.

All we want from you is to begin doing that which we lack the power to do, by arresting, prosecuting and recovering the money. After all, that was the kernel of your campaign promises and victory.
