Yesterday, I met some guys for a drink but before I got there, a lively discussion about the economy and polity was already in progress. Trust me, I jumped in immediately and unlike me, I decided to play the devil’s advocate by supporting President Muhammadu Buhari.

So I said, “Look Baba is trying but you know a lot of things were wrong when he took over so it may take sometime to clear the rot in the system.”

This particularly loud guy came at me with a barrage of questions.

“Didn’t your Baba know how bad the system was when he went around telling the whole country and world that PDP has nearly killed Nigeria and promised to revive the country?”

So, I answered, “Yes but…”

He cut in, “But what? After 10 months in office can you name one project, policy, or infrastructure project that your Baba has initiated?”

I asked, “What about TSA (Treasury Single Account)?”

“Jonathan initiated TSA,” he shouted back.

“What about BVN?,” I asked again.

“Jonathan initiated BVN and for your information, Jonathan or is it OBJ also initiated IPPIS. So, once more I ask you, name one project initiated by Buhari. Mind you, unbundling NNPC was also started long before he took office. Tell me apart from cutting down trees in defense of Naira and generally stifling trade what has he initiated since he took office?”

So, over to you Buharists… Name at least two concrete projects, policies and/or Infrastructure programs initiated by Buhari since he took office. So I can defend Baba like the good citizen I am when confronted by the cynics.

I am waiting to be educated so I can educate others.
