The president of the Student Union Government, (SUG) of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Mr. Omotayo Akande, has been suspended for one month by the union for allegedly seeking funds from the university authorities to attend a conference in New York, United States of America.
The development was contained in a statement issued on Monday, August 3, 2015 and signed by the Student Representative Council made up of the SUG Speaker, Adebari Adedayo; Clerk of the House, Ogunkanmi Omotayo; and Deputy Speaker, Olowofoyehan Oluseun.
It was gathered that the suspended president sought N650,000 from the authorities which was against the oath of office.
Akande, could not be reached for comments as at the time of the report.
