Tinubu Departs France for London on ‘Private Visit’

PARIS, France — Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has departed France for a short private visit to London, United Kingdom, after concluding his official trip to Paris.

The President’s Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communications, and Strategy, Dele Alake, disclosed this in a statement.

During his time in Paris, President Tinubu participated in the summit for ‘A New Global Financing Pact’ which was hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron.

The summit provided President Tinubu with a global platform to advocate for wider fiscal space and economic justice for Africa.

He emphasized the importance of addressing critical issues such as poverty and climate change, especially as the world accelerates the pace of energy transition.

Initially scheduled to return to Abuja, Nigeria, on Saturday, June 24, 2023, President Tinubu has instead proceeded to London for a brief private visit.

Dele Alake assured that President Tinubu will return to Nigeria in time for the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir festival.

The New Global Financing Pact summit and President Tinubu’s active participation highlight the growing recognition of Africa’s role in global economic development and the need for sustainable policies that address pressing challenges on the continent.

The Nigerian leader’s international engagements are being closely watched by stakeholders as they reflect Nigeria’s commitment to engaging with global partners on issues of economic development and sustainability.
