UNIBEN Students Burn Edo Government Buses In Protest Of Demolished School Property

Students of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) on Wednesday, January 7, 2015, burnt down an Edo City Transport,  luxurious bus popularly known as the Comrade Bus, with plate number ED129BH in response to the destruction of property given to the institution during the administration of Dr. Samuel Ogbemudia, describing the demolition as unconstitutional.

The students and the UNIBEN chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have been protesting the demolition of 18 property by the Adams Oshiomole-ledEdo State government .

The students barricaded the entire Benin-Lagos Road for more than two hours before military operatives and policemen arrived the scene to douse the tension. The students also marauded the Ugbowo axis as part of the protest.
