Must read

NIGER, Nigeria – In a successful counter-attack, local vigilantes in Ibbi community, Mashegu local government area of Niger State, have killed no fewer than 50 terrorists responsible for terrorising and abducting local residents.

The terrorists had kidnapped 12 residents two weeks ago, but their reign of terror was brought to an end by the brave actions of these vigilantes.

The vigilantes managed to destroy the terrorists’ camps located within the Kainji National Park, waging a four-day battle to rescue the abducted victims.

Unfortunately, two vigilantes lost their lives during the attack, and the terrorists killed nine of the 12 hostages in an attempt to escape. Those killed included a Sharia Court Registrar, six women, and three other men. The remaining three hostages, all men, were successfully rescued.

A local source revealed, “As I am talking to you now, the vigilantes have destroyed the camps of the terrorists and chased them out of the national park and dumped the bodies of the slain terrorists at the Kainji National Park.”

Abdul Ahmed, a resident of Ibbi, reported that bandits had recently taken control of some unmanned parts of the National Park, from where they launched their attacks on the area’s residents.

Niger Commissioner of Internal Security, Emmanuel Umar, could not be reached for comment. Meanwhile, Niger police spokesman Wasiu Abiodun did not respond to calls or texts as of the time of filing this report.
