Spirit And Life Devotional: When Jabez Prayed

Must read

[pull_quote_center]”And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, ‘Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!’ So God granted him what he requested.” I Chronicles 4:10 NKJV[/pull_quote_center]

The prayer of Jabez is only thirty two words long! How long does it take to pray a prayer of thirty two words? Certainly not up to a week, not a day, not even up to an hour! And the Bible says in the same verse that God granted him what he requested!

Some of us have a wrong understanding of prayer: we think that we must always pray for so long, with much intensity for God to grant our requests; we forget that Jesus said that we are not heard because of the length of our prayers! Jabez did not speak big grammar; he simply made an expression of the desires of his heart to God, and God heard him.

God loves it when we pray! And He is swift to respond! There’s no bureaucracy involved; our prayers go directly to Him and He attends to our petitions immediately! If God answered the prayer of Jabez, there’s no reason why He wouldn’t answer yours. Have that assurance when you pray; believe He will hear you and that He will grant your requests. Amen.
