The excitement of life’s journey isn’t in the destination, it is in the space between where you start and where you finally end.

If the entire process is revealed from the outset, where then is the excitement? Where then is the adrenaline rush and suspense of the journey? Life is an adventure and must be lived in that light. If there are no battles to fight, no new lands to discover, no fences to scale, nor any rivers to swim, what then is the purpose of embarking on life’s trip?

We are all on a journey down here on earth’ whether or not we realize it, whether or not we know where we are going, we are on a journey. Having a clearly defined end (purpose, goal) does not equate knowing the process. From study and experience, God shows you where you are going, like Joseph, but doesn’t tell you about the pit, Potiphar’s house and the prison. The excitement of life’s journey isn’t in the destination, it is in the space between where you start and where you finally end. The stories of lions killed and bears torn apart are the experiences that solidify your place in life’s hall of fame.

It is scary when I encounter people who have never had any scars, those who have no stories of failure, broken hearts, no experiences out of the ordinary. Never having any life-experience is evidence that you have never put your neck out, have never stepped out of the ‘safe’ zone. It is said that there is no security on earth, the only real security is 6 feet below the ground. Not getting out there wont eventually save you from being crushed with ‘the masses’, fear always produces the result for which that fear exists. Like David said in the good book “the thing i feared the most has come upon me”. There is no safety in living safe.

I reckon that the only reason why people would prefer a numb existence to one with loads of exciting, painful and joyful moments is the fear of failure. People are afraid to try, the reason why trying is abhorrent to them is that they are afraid to fail. The question everyone is answering consciously or unconsciously is, WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH YOUR LIFE IF YOU KNEW YOU WOULD NEVER FAIL?

Failure is a concept that people seem not to have gotten a grasp of. Being afraid to lose what they have, people lose everything; being afraid to fail in their endeavors, many live a failed existence. Why do you not try? What do you refuse to do what you are most afraid of doing? Faith is not the absence of fear but the actions and confessions you engage in, despite the presence of fear. Fear is meant to be faced. Like my safi people will say, “all die, na die“, so lets get on with it. The coward dies many times before his death,  but the courageous man dies once!

Fear has two meanings:

  • FEAR – Forget Everything And Run
  • FEAR – Face Everything And Rise

Get out of your perceived safe zone, those who say if i perish, i perish; seldom ever perish. Better to die for what you believe than live for no reason other than being an extra pair of useless hands on the face of the earth. The unknown may be feared, but it must be charted also. Make your life count. There is no glory in playing small, no victory in living less than yourself.
