Following Sunday Attack, Boko Haram Bombs Madagali Community In Adamawa

Scores of people were feared killed on Wednesday, January 13, 2015 following “a powerful bomb explosion”, in Madagali, Adamawa State.

According to The Whistle, the blast was believed to be masterminded by Islamist terrorist group, Boko Haram.

This is the second blast in the town in a little over two weeks.

Following declaration of victory over Boko Haram by the Federal Government, on December 28, 2015 two female suicide bombers attacked a busy motor park in the town. The attack which occurred in a market near a moto park killed at least 30 people and 16 were injured.

This week, Chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Buratai continues to claim that Boko Haram has been defeated.

Yesterday’s bombing follows a Sunday attack on the same community in Adamawa. A House of Reps member representing the community has raised alarm saying that the people of Madagali are on the “verge of extinction”.

The rampaging terrorists struck attacked the village in the Northern part of Adamawa slitting the throats of 6 residents in a midnight attack, reports say.

Madagali Local Government Area shares borders with Sambisa Forest.

Musa Amadu, a resident of of the community speaking with a journalist on phone said that the terrorists invaded the community at about 12.30 am on Sunday. They rounded up their victims and set two houses ablaze as residents ran into nearby bushes.

“We are now in deep sorrow,” Mr. Amadu lamented.

A lawmaker representing Madagali and Michika constituency at the House of Representatives, Adamu Kamale confirmed the attack, saying that six people were killed and eight others injured in the attack which went on for hours.

“We are mourning now, they slaughtered six people, eight others seriously injured.

“The fact that our area share borders with Sambisa forest and Cameroon republic should have been enough reason why government must deploy security personnel to protect us. If the government does not take proactive measures to stem the ugly insurrection of insurgents into our domain, they will kill all of us.

“The number of soldiers deployed is grossly inadequate, we need more security personnel as our villages share borders with Sambisa forest,” the lawmaker said.
