A military patrol helicopter had on Monday, November 10, 2014 crashed in Damareia a suburb of Girei Local Government Area in Yola, Adamawa state’s capital.
According to AIT, the crash was said to have occurred near one of the internally displaced persons camps within the vicinity.
A source resident at the area identified as Jamilu Inuwa, said he saw the chopper go down.
“The helicopter crashed in Damare. I don’t know if it is a military plane or not.” he said.
According to a Yola-based journalist, the helicopter was on surveillance mission and was carrying arms and ammunition before it crashed.
The cause of the crash is yet to be ascertained.
The number of the occupants of the helicopter before it crashed and casualties of the incident are also not yet certain.
