Former NFF President, Dominic Oneya Dies

Dominic Oneya, a former president of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, is dead.

Born on May 26, 1948, Oneya, who hailed from Agbarho Kingdom in Ughelli, reportedly died on Thursday morning in his home at Effurun GRA in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

Oneya was NFF boss from 1999 to 2002.

He served in various capacities in CAF committees and recently headed the Ministerial Committee on Reforms in Nigerian Football.

He was military administrator of Kano from 1996- 1998.

Benue Governor Samuel Ortom has described the death of the military administrator of Benue State from 1998 to 1999 as painful.

Ortom, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, said the footprints of the deceased have remained indelible.

Ortom sympathised with the Oneya family, the government, and the people of Delta State over the death of their illustrious son and prayed God to grant his soul eternal rest.
