A 26-year-old homeless man was caught inside a mortuary having sex with the corpse of a woman, police revealed on Friday, February 13, 2015.
Domonique Smith, was initially arrested and charged with stealing a bicycle from Hill Watson Peoples Funeral Service in Columbus, Georgia, United States.
It was during the process of police investigation that a video evidence emerged that Smith actually committed an act referred to as necrophilia with the lifeless remains of a woman which laid stone dead in the morgue of a funeral home, reports the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer.
‘The investigation led us to believe he had a sexual act with the woman’s body,’ said Captain Gordon Griswould, who added he could not remember the last time there was a necrophilia charge in the area, adding that it was ‘extremely rare’.
The funeral director at the funeral home, Cedric Hill, in reaction saidhome, declined to discuss details.
‘We look for the best protection and security for the families we have served in this community for 65 years,’ he told the Ledger-Enquirer.
Smith pleaded guilty to all charges against him in Recorder’s Court on Wednesday, February 11, 2015. on Wednesday.
Judge Michael Cielinski ordered Smith admitted him on bail in the sum of $20,000 and bound the charges over to Superior Court.
The accused was sentenced to serve 30 days in jail for entering an unoccupied dwelling.
