MIAMI, United States — Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate, the British-American social-media influencers already facing criminal allegations in Britain and Romania, have been arrested by United States federal authorities.
The United States Marshals Service detained the brothers in Miami on Saturday, July 18, 2026, under a warrant whose contents remained sealed.
The agency confirmed the arrests but said it could not disclose the accusations specified in the warrant.
British prosecutors are seeking their extradition on an expanded series of rape, trafficking and assault charges.
“We can confirm the arrest of the Tate brothers today in Miami,” the Marshals Service said. “The warrant was sealed so we are unable to confirm the charges.”
Britain’s Crown Prosecution Service said the brothers were awaiting extradition proceedings and that prosecutors would seek their return to the United Kingdom to face 21 previously authorised charges and 38 additional counts relating to four more alleged victims.
The alleged offences occurred between July 2010 and August 2017, according to prosecutors.
The brothers have denied wrongdoing and have not been convicted of the crimes alleged by British or Romanian authorities.
Prosecutors Add Charges Involving Four Women
Andrew, 39, faces seven additional counts of rape, three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation and three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Prosecutors also authorised 19 further charges against him involving indecent images of a child and extreme pornography.
Tristan, 38, faces two additional counts of rape, one count of sexual assault and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation.
Malcolm McHaffie, the head of the Crown Prosecution Service’s Special Crime Division, said the charging decisions followed the receipt of another evidence file from Bedfordshire Police.
“We have decided to prosecute Andrew and Tristan Tate for further offences including rape, arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation and offences relating to indecent images of a child,” McHaffie said.
The latest allegations involve four additional women, bringing the total number of alleged victims in the British criminal proceedings to seven.
Prosecutors cautioned that the proceedings were active and said the brothers were entitled to a fair trial.
Earlier British Charges Remain Pending
Before the latest decision, Andrew faced 10 British charges: three counts of rape, four counts of actual bodily harm, two counts of human trafficking and one count of controlling prostitution for gain.
Tristan previously faced 11 counts, including three of rape, six of actual bodily harm and two of human trafficking.
Those earlier charges relate to three alleged victims, according to the Crown Prosecution Service.
The brothers hold both American and British citizenship.
They moved to Romania in 2016 and were arrested there with two Romanian women in 2022 before being indicted in a separate case.
Romanian authorities have investigated allegations that include organised crime, human trafficking, trafficking of minors and money laundering. The brothers have denied the allegations.
Restrictions that had prevented them from leaving Romania were later eased, allowing them to travel to the United States in early 2025 while the Romanian proceedings remained unresolved.
Lawyer Condemns Arrests
Joseph D. McBride, a New York lawyer who has represented the brothers in civil litigation, described their detention as an abuse of American law-enforcement authority.
He accused British officials of manufacturing the additional allegations and predicted that the brothers would be released before they could be sent across the Atlantic.
“This is not law enforcement,” McBride said. “This is a political hit … America does not do Britain’s political dirty work.”
The Crown Prosecution Service said it had formally requested the brothers’ extradition from the United States.
The ultimate decision will be made through American judicial and diplomatic procedures.
Andrew and Tristan are former kickboxers who built large online audiences through content promoting male dominance and attacking feminism.
They have frequently been associated with the online movement commonly called the “manosphere”.
Their public profiles have grown alongside criminal investigations and civil disputes in several countries.
Despite the expanding cases against them, both have repeatedly maintained that the accusations are false.
