1 Peter 1:17-19 says, “And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear; knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.”
David wrote that the redemption of the soul is costly, he made it clear that money cannot redeem a life. The only thing that could redeem us was the blood of Jesus, the most precious substance in heaven and on earth!
To redeem is to purchase or to buy back. No wonder Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, “you are not your own, for you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” Having been redeemed by the blood of Jesus, we (body, soul and spirit) belong to God and should live to please the One Who delivered us from darkness and destruction. Amen.
