Terrorists Kill 2, Abduct 4 Women From Kaduna Village

A community leader and his nephew were reportedly killed by terrorists in the Unguwan Mai Awo village in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna state.

The terrorists who attacked the village around 3.30 am on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, also abducted 4 women including a nursing mother.

Journalists gathered that the community leader, Malam Ibrahim Abdullahi, and his nephew were killed in his house by the terrorists, who moved to another location in the village and abducted the women.

A local, Mallam Idris, said the terrorists attacked the village around 3.30 am and shot sporadically to scare the villagers away when they arrived. He said two other persons in the village were injured and taken to a hospital for treatment

According to him, “the terrorists killed Malam Ibrahim Abdullahi who is a community leader and also a Chairman of Fityanul Islam First Aid group of the area, and his nephew, Zakari Yau. Four women including a nursing mother were also abducted by the terrorists from the community.”

Spokesperson of the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Mohammed Jalige was yet to react to the incident but said he would do so when he gets the details.

Gunmen invaded  Asare Community in Gwadabawa local Government area Sokoto State and slaughtered PDP Asare Ward chairman and shot dead his elder brother few hours after returning from a gubernatorial campaign rally on Saturday, December 31, 2022.

The deceased, Alhaji Iliyasu Agajiba is a strong pillar of the People’s Democratic party. PDP, in Gwadabawa local Government area, whose contributions to the development of the party in the state cannot be quantified, according to sources.

The killings of the ward chairman is perceived by many as politically motivated as the incident happen few hours after the launching of the party’s state gubernatorial campaign rally in the area.

Another thing that brought the attention of many sympathizers that troops to his compound for condolences is the nature and method used in snuffing out life of the disease. The unknown killers used knife to slaughter the disease and later shot on site his elder brother attempting to rescue him.

Gwadabawa Local Government Area is one of the key local government areas where banditry takes place unabated without resistance.

Another version of the story on the killings of the party chairman and his elder brother Is that, the killers stormed the village in a convoy of about 16 motorcycles conducting a house-to-house search for livestock and any available animal.

It’s in the process, they arrived house of the PDP ward chairman and his elder brother, where they killed the two at gunpoint.

Confirming the incident, the public relations officer of the Sokoto State Police Command DSP Sanusi  Abubakar, could not be reached as he could neither picked calls nor respond to text messages sent to him.

Panic As Gunmen Murder Imo Labour Party House Of Assembly Candidate

Gunmen have murdered the Labour Party, LP, Imo State House of Assembly Candidate for Onuimo Local Government Area Mr Christopher Eleghu.

The Imo State Police Command spokesman Mike Abattam said the incident happened in the early hours of Friday at Mr Eleghu’s country home in the Umucheke community of Onuimo council.

The assassins, he said, set his home ablaze after killing him and also burnt down his vehicle and other valuables.

He said the Imo State Commissioner of Police Mohammed Barde has ordered an investigation into the unfortunate incident and has also activated all tactical units of the command to go after the assailants for possible arrest and apprehension.

Some weeks back, an LP women leader in Kaduna Victoria Chintex was killed.

Gunmen have equally targeted offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission in the South-East state in the past months. The most recent one which happened a few days back claimed some lives.

In his reaction to the attacks, Governor Hope Uzodimma linked them to political actors.

“If we collaborate this with the events of the past, we have continuously said that what is happening in Imo State is politically contrived,” he said when he visited the Imo Police headquarters after one of the attacks.

“Some people think that they can win the election yet they don’t want the election. How would they now win?”

But INEC said critical materials were not destroyed in the incident.

“The attack affected the part of the building occupied by the Election and Party Monitoring (EPM) Department and one official utility vehicle (a Toyota Hilux pickup van) were burnt,” INEC’s National Commissioner Festus Okoye said in a statement hours after the incident.

“This is the third attack on the Commission’s facilities in Imo State in less than two weeks following the earlier attacks on our Orlu LGA office on Thursday 1st December 2022 and Oru West LGA office on Sunday 4th December 2022.”
