Police officials have arrested a 78-year-old landlord, Chief Wilfred Ogbodo, for allegedly raping his tenant’s 9-year-old daughter in Enugu State.

Ogbodo, who is a grandfather was said to have lured the girl into his flat, overpowered her and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.

He further warned her not to reveal the encounter to anyone with a threat that he would kill her if she ever did.

However, the bubbles were busted when his wife walked in on him while he was cleaning up the blood from the victim after the sordid encounter.

Out of shock, the woman raised an alarm and attracted the attention of the victim’s bewildered parents before the case was reported to the police.

According to The Sun, an Enugu-based sexual assault referral center, Tamar SARC, managed by Women Aid Collective (WACOL) and funded by Justice for All (J4A), has vowed to make sure Ogbodo faces the full wrath of the law.

Narrating the harrowing ordeal, the victim said: “He used his hands first to rub my private part and later, he used his mouth to have oral sex with me before penetrating inside me. He told me that though his manhood is big, he has to use it on me anyway, and he had sex with me in my vagina and my anus.”

“While he was cleaning me up with handkerchief and his shirt, the wife came knocking at the door. The wife’s knock was so loud that he later opened the door and the wife asked me, what the husband did, and I told her.”

The parents of the victim expressed shock over the incident and promised to take her for medical treatment to ensure there would be no adverse medical effect of the rape in future.

Meanwhile, the suspect was remanded in prison after he was charged to court while Tamar SARC’s follow-up on the matter revealed that the case file has been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for advice.
