A man in Pakistan has an unusual act – he puts live, venomous snakes into his nose and takes them out of his mouth.
Iqbal Jogi, a 30-year-old from a village near Karachi, performs the stunt for school children and even crowds at weddings.
And he’s proud of developing this, er, skill.
‘Though it is not something everyone can do, I feel blessed to have excelled in it,’ Iqbal said.
‘I am proud of my talent . Of course I know it involves huge risks, but IO feel good when people anxiously wait to see if the snake would come out – and then scream in excitement when they see both the snake and me alive.’
There are obvious problems with the act. For one thing, it’s dangerous – a snake bite once nearly killed Iqbal – not to mention the fact that it can’t be fun for the snake itself.
‘It was about to come out when the venomous snake bit me,’ Iqbal said. ‘Within seconds I lost consciousness and was battling for life for three days.’
Yeah, it’s pretty weird – and quite cruel to the snake, too – but Iqbal says it’s the only way he can support himself and his eight children.
‘I understand it can kill me, but the only way I can earn a living is by showing this act,’ Iqbal said.
‘I pray before every performance that the snake doesn’t kill me and I stay alive so I can perform the next day.’
