Nigeria Customs Service Officer Killed by Motorist in Kebbi

KEBBI, Nigeria — A Nigeria Customs Service officer, Aminu Abdullahi of the Kebbi Area Command, was killed while on duty by a motorist, Abdulwasiu Salawudeen.

The tragic incident occurred on July 13, 2023, when Salawudeen, driving a 2015 Toyota Corolla with chassis no: 2TBURHE3FC456204, struck Officer Abdullahi.

The injured officer was initially rushed to the General Hospital in Yauri for immediate medical attention.

Following primary care, he was transferred to the Orthopaedic Hospital in Wammako, situated in the Wammako Local Council Area of Sokoto State.

Despite the medical efforts, Abdullahi tragically succumbed to his injuries.

The Comptroller of the Kebbi Area Command, Dr. Ben Oramalugo, stated that Salawudeen and the vehicle involved have been transferred to the Kebbi Command Headquarters for further investigation.

In response to the incident, the Command organised a parade to honor their fallen officer and uplift the spirits of their personnel.

Dr. Oramalugo emphasized the parade’s purpose as a homage to officers who have paid the ultimate price and to foster unity, discipline, and encouragement amongst the ranks.

The Comptroller further emphasized the importance of officers seeing each other as brothers in uniform, aiding each other with intelligence and reinforcement.

In a separate development, the new Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Samuel Titus Musa, along with his team, visited the Customs Area Comptroller.

Commissioner Musa underscored the importance of inter-agency collaboration and mutual support in combating crime within the state.

In response, Dr. Oramalugo reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Customs Service Kebbi Command to maintaining a synergistic relationship with the Nigeria Police Force in Kebbi.

This alliance aims to provide a peaceful atmosphere for the residents of Kebbi state, fostering development and growth.

He reassured the Police Commissioner of continued cooperation and synergy.

Troops in Operation Hadin Kai Involved in an Accident in Northern Borno

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai were involved in an accident while on patrol in Northern Borno.

The incident was made public in a tweet by the Nigeria Television Authority, NTA on Thursday, June 22, 2023.

The Sector 3 and Multinational Joint Task Force, MNJTF, Command confirmed that 30 soldiers were involved in the accident.

Thankfully, no fatalities were reported among the soldiers involved.

Seven of the soldiers who were injured in the accident are currently receiving treatment at the 7 Division Hospital in Maiduguri.

Operation Hadin Kai is a military operation aimed at combating insurgency in the northeastern part of Nigeria.

The well-being of the troops involved is crucial as they continue their efforts in maintaining peace and security in the region.
