ABUJA, Nigeria — Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has announced his planned return to office on June 14, 2023, following the inauguration of the 10th House of Representatives.

This development follows President Bola Tinubu’s appointment of Gbajabiamila, the incumbent Speaker, as his Chief of Staff.

In a tweet posted on his verified Twitter handle on Friday, June 2, 2023, Gbajabiamila noted that he is prepared to work closely with President Tinubu to tackle the immense responsibilities that lie ahead for the prosperity of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Having spent the last 20 years in the Nigerian Parliament, and after winning my 6th term election into the National Assembly, I shall work with Mr President in discharging the enormous task ahead of him for the peace and progress of the federal republic of Nigeria,” Gbajabiamila said.

He further stated, “I shall give my best when I take office on June 14, 2023, as reflected in Mr. President’s official letter.”

Gbajabiamila’s confirmation signals a commitment to his new role, paving the way for a smooth transition in the Presidential Villa.
