Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 disclosed the content of the last text message sent to him by the late Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade before his demise.
Speaking at a press conference organised by members of the late monarch’s family to officially announce his death, Governor Aregbesola availed that the late Ooni had sent the message just before he traveled to the UK for medical reasons.
According to Governor Aregbesola, the message read thus: “His Excellency, I am still not feeling good, So I am travelling abroad for medical check up of my body therefore I place your government under God’s guidance.”
He went on to eulogize the late Ooni saying: “The late Ooni represented the Yoruba nation and has done a lot in uplifting the traditional institution of the state.”
