A notorious kidnapping gang marauding the Ojodu, Ojota and Berger areas of Lagos state have been apprehended by the operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Ikeja, Lagos.
The suspects, identified as Edet Ekuno, 32, Chukwudi Dickson, 40, Sunday Shamiga, 24, Hope Edet Okon, 27 and Isaiah Unuabon, 31, were apprehended in a hotel at Berger area of Lagos State, while plotting to kidnap a wealthy resident of the area.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, said the officer in charge of the SARS, Ikeja, Abba Kyari, received a tip off on the nefarious activities of the rebels and acted immediately leading to ther apprehension.
After their arrest, the members of the gang confessed that they have operated in both Lagos and Akwa Ibom states.
Among items recovered from them were two locally-made pistols and 18 live cartridges.
In a similar development, some suspected cultists were nabbed at the Chemist Bus stop by a police surveillance team attached to Isolo Division of Lagos state.
A locally-made pistol was recovered from the suspects who were in a black Toyota Land Cruiser SUV with number plate AKD 406 BR.
The gand led by one Samson Ogunmokan had in their possession, a locally made pistol with two live cartridges, assorted charms, 10 mobile phones, one horse whip and N31,000.
