President Goodluck Jonathan will on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 preside over the Federal Executive Council meeting for the last time as the country’s President.
The council, which consists of the President (as chairman), Vice President, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, ministers, special advisers to the President, Head of Civil Service of the Federation and the National Security Adviser is the highest decision-making body in Nigeria.
The council holds every Wednesday, except in extenuating circumstances, to approve contracts and execute government policies.
As President Jonathan will soon hand over to Muhammadu Buhari as the country’s new President on Friday, May 29,2015 this is the last time he would chair the meeting.
The President is expected to use the opportunity of this, his valedictory session to thank council members for their support during his administration.
